Fit and 40 Something

'A Fitness Social Network for Persons 40 and Over'

It is vital to understand fit isn't necessarily healthy. Can one have fitness without health or vice versa? Absolutely! A muscular physique does not constitute health but rather a level of fitness. Fitness is generally measured by the maximum oxygen uptake also referred to as V02max. For example, an athlete is most likely to test as very fit in terms of V02max, but is he or she really healthy?

Tell me, do you consider yourself Fit and Healthy or simply one of the two? Share your thoughts and let's discuss!

I don't think one can be healthy without a level of fitness. I agree that being fit does not necessarily imply being healthy. It is one component.

I'm quite fit but I probably don't satisfy the criteria for healthy. I had a minor stroke 6 months ago. The MDs have not been able to pinpoint a cause. That would probably keep me from being classified as healthy even though I feel healthy.

I agree. One's state of healthiness does entail a level of fitness.
